ComReg facilitates a wide range of industry forums.
In general, the purpose of these forums is to facilitate Authorised Operators’ development and enhancement of the regulated product set in relevant markets. Principal activities include the review and revision of the products, the inter-operator processes and associated documentation; and future development of the product set.
Forums are subject to terms of reference agreed by industry and membership is open to all operators who have a General Authorisation.
The following forums are currently active:
Next Generation Access
This forum facilitates collective industry participation in the planning and development of NGA wholesale services. Its purpose is to discuss and agree operational, maintenance and product development issues. The work of the forum is regularly discharged through specialist technical meetings. It currently meets on a weekly basis and membership is drawn from a broad base of telecoms operators.
Leased Lines
The purpose of this forum is to discuss and agree operational, maintenance and product development issues for Ethernet and traditional Leased Line products and Partial Private Circuit (PPC) products. It meets on a fortnightly basis.
Local Loop Unbundling (LLU)
The LLU Forum oversees Line Share, Unbundled Local Metallic Path (ULMP), combined Geographic Number Portability and ULMP (GLUMP). The work of the committee may, on occasion, be discharged through focused technical meetings as appropriate. The forum currently meets on a fortnightly basis and membership is drawn from a broad base of telecoms operators.
Bitstream
This forum meets fortnightly to discuss and agree operational, maintenance and product development issues for current generation bitstream products. Membership of the forum is drawn from a broad base of fixed telecoms operators and resellers.
Geographic Number Portability
This forum was convened to update fixed portability processes, to integrate bitstream and other new products into porting processes, and to oversee the introduction of one day portability for fixed services. It currently meets on a monthly basis to discuss issues arising and membership is drawn from a broad base of fixed telecoms operators and resellers.
Carrier Pre Selection / Single Billing –Wholesale Line Rental
The group meets monthly to discuss and agree operational, maintenance and product development issues for the CPS and SB-WLR products. Membership of the forum is drawn from a broad base of fixed telecoms operators and resellers.
Mobile Number Portability
This MNP Service Establishment Group (MNP SEG) as required to coordinate the inter-operator testing program to launch Mobile Network Operators or Mobile Virtual Network Operators in the mobile market.
Numbering Advisory Panel
The Numbering Advisory Panel (NAP) is comprised of representatives from the telecommunications industry, consumers groups and ComReg. The NAP meets as required to provide expert advice to ComReg on procedural and policy decisions in relation to specific numbering and numbering related issues.
